Unlike restaurant-style curries, this experience focuses on the simple yet deeply nourishing recipes that many Bengalis grow up eating daily around the family table.

Join Shuraya in her cozy Cranston home for an intimate afternoon centered around spice layering, tempering techniques, texture, aroma, and the small details that transform humble lentils into comforting and flavorful meals.

This in-person cultural cooking experience is perfect for curious food lovers, home cooks, and anyone wanting to explore how lentils can be both deeply comforting and incredibly versatile. Throughout the afternoon, guests will learn and taste a variety of classic Bengali lentil dishes inspired by recipes Shuraya grew up eating and recreating through years of experimenting with her mother’s cooking and learning from aunties across Bangladesh and Canada.

Shuraya will guide guests through balancing spices, understanding different types of lentils, layering flavors, and recreating recipes using a more approachable and health-conscious method while still honoring traditional Bengali flavors.

The class is both hands-on and demo-style, allowing guests to gather around the kitchen, ask questions, observe techniques, and fully immerse themselves in the experience. Guests will also enjoy freshly prepared lentil dishes, vegetable sides, rice, tea, meaningful conversations, and communal dining in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
